Evolving Legal Market. Evolved Legal Recruiting.

Christopher C.S. Manning, Esq.

Owner and Founder

With a background combining 15 years of practicing law and many years of extensive recruiting experience both inside an AmLaw 50 law firm and as a headhunter, Chris Manning’s unique skill set spans all facets of the legal recruiting industry.

Mr. Manning practiced law as an associate with two AmLaw firms (Bryan Cave and Husch Blackwell) before serving as Bryan Cave’s DC Recruitment Director where he gained valuable knowledge and insight into law firm recruiting strategies and approaches. Mr. Manning then founded his own boutique law firm, Manning & Sossamon, at which he practiced for eight years and was named a SuperLawyer of DC on multiple occasions. Notably, a number of Mr. Manning’s cases were nationally and internationally publicized, including his representation of the prevailing defendants in the notorious Pearson v. Chung “pants lawsuit” in which an administrative law judge sued Mr. Manning’s local dry cleaner client for $67M.

Listening to his calling to be a legal recruiter, Mr. Manning left the practice of law to become a recruiter with a preeminent legal recruiting firm in Washington, DC, focusing exclusively on placing law firm partners and practice groups. Mr. Manning learned a great deal while at the firm prior to following his entrepreneurial spirit in founding The Manning Group.

Mr. Manning received a J.D. cum laude from Washington & Lee University School of Law and a B.A. in History from the University of Oklahoma, graduating magna cum laude with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Manning has a record of active community involvement, having served as the President of the University Club of Washington, DC and as the Treasurer of the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
